Ban on Websites Editor Traveling Abroad Lifted
Baku / 08/03/19 / Turan: The ban on foreign travel of the editor of the website gununsesi.org Parviz Hashimli, introduced a year ago, has been lifted.
This was reported to Turan by the journalist himself.
According to Hashimli, he received a call from the Baku city prosecutor"s office and was informed that he could freely travel abroad.
"They imposed restrictions on foreign trips without any court decision. Because of this, I missed a number of international events where I received invitations," Hashimli said.
* Recall that in connection with publications on the Ganja events of 2018, Hashimli was questioned by the Baku prosecutor"s office, after which a ban was imposed on his departure abroad.
Two months ago, he turned to the Prosecutor General regarding the lifting of the ban. After the letter was published in the media, the journalist was invited to the Prosecutor General"s office and assured that the restriction would be lifted very soon. However, it turned out that the restriction was in force. On July 30 he was not released from the country.
** Hashimli was arrested in September 2013 on charges of arms trafficking. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. In March 2016, he was pardoned. -21B-
