Banner of Azerbaijan once again above the highest peak of the world

On May 19, 2013 at 6:30 am according to Nepal time, Murad Ashurly, as part of  an international team rose to the highest point on the planet, hoisting there banner of Azerbaijan,  according to the press service of Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation.

The ascent on Everest, the height of which is 8848 meters, carried out an international expedition along the northern route from China (Tibet.)

The ascent began at 00:15 from the camp at an altitude of 8300 meters. Before dawn the team successfully reached the top  and descended to the forward camp at an altitude of 6400 meters, spending about 14 hours.

In a telephone conversation with the leadership of the Mountaineering Federation of Azerbaijan, Murad reported gale-force wind which made very difficult the climbing the last section of the ascent and descent.

A member of the Mountaineering Federation of Azerbaijan, Murad Ashurly, currently lives and works in the United States. He is also a member of the American Alpine Club. Over the past ten years, Murad made a successful ascent to the highest peak in Europe, North and South America: McKinley, Elbrus, Aconcagua, and climbed to the mountains of the Caucasus, Pamir, Andes, Central and North America.

On May 19, 2007 another our compatriot, Israfil Ashurly, became the first citizen of Azerbaijan, who rose to the highest point on the planet.

Another  our compatriot, a member of the high-altitude team, Ismail Askerov, in 2011, was close to the conquest of the height, but a hurricane forced him to turn back from  the 8600 meters.

For the first time the flag  of Azerbaijan was raised over  the Mount Everest in 1999 by members of the international expedition, which included our countryman, Saridan Mursakulov. -02В-
