Border service about violations in June this year
Baku/01.07.22/Turan: 18 people trying to cross the state border with forged passports and Schengen visas were detained on the borders of Azerbaijan in June this year, the State Border Service of the country said today.
Over the same period 646 people were detained for violation of border rules; legal actions were taken against them.
There were eighteen citizens of Azerbaijan, five citizens of Iran, two citizens of India, one citizen of Uzbekistan, six citizens of Morocco, two citizens of Pakistan, one citizen of Kazakhstan and three citizens of Afghanistan among the violators of the state border.
As a part of the fight against crime, 216 people wanted by the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan were identified and handed over to the relevant authorities.
Note that 478 people were not allowed to leave the country and 19 people who were banned to enter the country were not allowed to enter Azerbaijan, the report says.
During June, border guards seized 79 kg 394 grams of drugs and 9162 psychotropic pills.
As a part of anti-smuggling measures there were seized goods worth 2.5 million manats, including tobacco products, gold jewelry, cosmetics and alcohol, the report said. -16D-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. Starting from November 25, dedicated traffic lanes allocated for COP29 conference participants will lose their exclusive status and will be open to all vehicles, according to the Land Transport Agency (AYNA).
