Change of Leadership in Federation of Mountaineering
On Saturday, February 13 at Baku a reporting election conference of Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation (FAA) was held. As stated in the press release of the Federation, the opening of the conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, headed by the Deputy Minister Ismayil Ismayilov.
After approval of the agenda and rules, a report was made by the President of the Federation Israfil Ashurly. He gave an assessment of the work done, talked about the achievements, gaps and challenges in the coming period.
Presentations also regarded reports of the Audit Committee and the Credentials Committee.
During the debate, participants of the event expressed their opinions and suggestions, recommendations to the new Bureau.
During voting delegates, the Presidium of the work has been found to be satisfactory for the reporting period.
The delegates unanimously approved the changes in the federal Constitution, adopted after the last conference in 2010, and approved the items attributable to bringing the current articles of association in accordance with the current legislation of Azerbaijan.
Then the delegates elected a new Presidium of the Federation of 11 people and the Audit Committee of 3 persons.
On the same day, the first organizational meeting of the newly elected Presidium of the Mountaineering Federation of Azerbaijan was held, where the majority of votes elected the new President of the Federation - representative of the section Olympus Mamed Abbasbeyli.
The previous head of the Federation Israfil Ashurly was elected member of the Presidium. -02B-

France has accused Azerbaijan of interfering in the domestic affairs of New Caledonia, a French special administrative-territorial entity in the South Pacific. The allegation was made by French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin during an interview with France 2 on May 15. Responding to a question about New Caledonia, Darmanin asserted, “Some leaders of New Caledonia, who are supporters of independence, have made a deal with Azerbaijan, which is undeniable.”
