Chevening Alumni Association Established in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan creates Chevening Alumni Association. Chevening is a British program that has operated in the world since 1983. Approximately 44,000 people have graduated from the program.
In Azerbaijan, the program has worked since 1994, giving education to 170 young people that have possessed Master's level at universities in the UK. This was reported by the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Carol Crofts on Aug. 25 at an event dedicated to the results of the selection of participants for this year's program.
According to her, in 2015 nine people were selected for Chevening from Azerbaijan and in 2016 five people have been chosen.
They were able to study in prestigious universities in Durham, Oxford, Glasgow, Manchester and other cities. The contest for the next academic year continues and will end on November 8.
‘Getting education in the UK on the Chevening program, the participants will be able to become better acquainted with the values and culture of our country,’ Crofts said.
The Coordinator of the Association of Azerbaijani Alumni of the program Narmin Rahimli noted that the creation of this network is aimed to explore the participants of different ages, promoting the development of the Azerbaijani-British relations and assistance to young people wishing to study in the UK. -06D-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
