Committee to Protect Journalists called for the release of Avaz Zeynalli
Based in New York, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day on May 3 , called for the release of all imprisoned journalists. Symbolically, the Committee called 10 names of the arrested journalists from Bahrain, China, Turkey, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Vietnam and Azerbaijan. Among the 10 names is the name of the editor of "Khural" newspaper, Avaz Zeinally.
CPJ notes that the journalist arrested after he criticized the President Ilham Aliyev and his repressive policies against journalists and opposition activists. CPJ recalled that in May Azerbaijan will chair the CE Committee of Ministers. -16D04-

One Indian citizen was killed, and another was injured in an incident at a company in the Absheron district. The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported the incident on January 13.
