Complaint lodged against ban on phone calls and meetings with Bakhtiyar Hajiyev's loved ones
Baku/06.01.23/Turan: A public activist is undergoing a period of rehabilitation after a 14-day hunger strike in the detention centre. Lawyer Elchin Sadigov told this to Turan after a meeting with Hajiyev in Baku SIZO-1.
According to the lawyer, the defence filed an appeal against the refusal to transfer Hajiyev to house arrest. "In all probability, the appeal will be considered next week. However it is possible that the appeal will also be heard tomorrow," the lawyer said.
Besides, the defence has filed a complaint to ban Hajiyev from telephone calls and meetings with relatives. The hearing of the complaint will be held on January 10 in the Khatayn district court.
Sadigov noted that at present Hajiyev has no complaints about the conditions of detention and treatment of him.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on 9 December on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. The same day, the Khatayn district court arrested him for a period of 1 month and 20 days. On December 15, Hajiyev pledged to go on an indefinite hunger strike demanding his release from custody. On 28 December, he ended the hunger strike in the evening after persistent calls from members of the public and requests from his family.-03D06-
