Court Fines Founder of Website
Baku / 22.11.19 / Turan: The Masalli district court today announced a decision on the suit of the former head of the district, Rafil Huseynov, against the founder of the 7GUN.az website, Javid Shiraliyev.
The plaintiff considered that Shiraliyev had insulted his honor and dignity, and damaged his business reputation, and demanded compensation of 3,000 manats.
The reason for the lawsuit was the publication on the website and Facebook of a number of articles on bribery, corruption, social problems, and unemployment in the Masalli region.
The court partially satisfied the lawsuit, obliging the defendant to pay the plaintiff 300 manat, Shiraliyev said. He intends to appeal. -06B-

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already announced the names of the leading candidates on its website. Hours after the election, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov stated at a briefing that 413 out of 685 municipalities had already been formed, with 7,791 candidates identified as leaders.
