Court of Appeal Leaves Website Editor Arrested
Baku / 08/08/19 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Elmar Rahimov examined the complaint of journalist Polad Aslanov accused of treason. He appealed against the refusal to transfer him to house arrest, but the court did not satisfy the complaint, his wife Gulmira Aslanova told Turan.
According to her, in the State Security Service"s detention center, her husband"s health has worsened. He is suffering from cardiovascular diseases and he has lost a lot of weight.
Recall that the editor of the website xeberman.com Polad Aslanov was detained on June 12, and the next day the court arrested him for 4 months. He is charged under Article 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is conducted by the State Security Service.
Local and international organizations condemned the prosecution of Aslanov, believing that the real reason for his arrest is his journalistic activities. -30B-
