Court Reduces Seven-Year Term for Political Prisoner by Two Months
Baku /25.09.19 / Turan: On September 25, the Supreme Court examined the complaint of the activists of the Popular Front Party Agyl Maharramov and Babek Hasanov, as well as the former party member Saleh Rustamov, demanding justification.
The Supreme Court made a "serious gesture", reducing the term of imprisonment for Saleh Rustamov by as much as two months (from 7 years 3 months to 7 years 1 month).
The verdict against Maharramov and Hasanov was upheld.
Recall that on February 27, Rustamov was convicted on charges of legalizing illegally obtained income and illegal entrepreneurship.
Babek Hasanov and Agyl Maharramov received three years in prison on the same charges.
However, the PFPA believes that in fact they were imprisoned for providing financial assistance to the families of the arrested activists. Human rights activists recognized the convicts as political prisoners. -30B06-
