Court trial against the journalist S.Alibeyli is scheduled for October 14
A preparatory trial in the case of Sardar Alibeyli, the editor PS.Nota newspaper took place today in Khatai District Court of Baku under the chairmanship of Abil Mamedov. He is charged under the Article 221.3 (hooliganism committed with a weapon.)
Alibeyli was arrested on a complaint of a Namik Amirov. However, the editor rejected the allegations, and called the case politically motivated due to his publications criticizing Ilham Aliyev.
The lawyer Samir Isayev asked to return the case for further investigation, and to replace the arrest by home arrest because Alibeyli has mentally ill child. However, all petitions wee rejected, and the trial is scheduled for the morning of October 14.
Alibeyli used to be detained repeatedly because of the critical and insulting publications.
His colleagues believe that this time the cause of his arrest became critical notes and a collage of the head of state Ilham Aliyev posted in Facebook, as well as the publications of political emigrant Isa Sadykhov. -03B06-
