Decision to Arrest Mammad Ibrahim Appealed
Baku / 01.10.18 / Turan: An appeal was filed against the decision to arrest the adviser of the chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Mammad Ibrahim. Turan was informed about this by his lawyer Javad Javadov.
Recall that Mammad Ibrahim was arrested on September 30, 2015 and subsequently convicted under Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism with resistance to police) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment. He was recognized a political prisoner by human rights activists. The day before the end of the prison sentence, he was charged with illegal storage of objects banned in the prison, under which he faces up to 6 months of imprisonment. On September 28, the Yasamal Court selected a measure of restraint against him in the form of arrest for a period of 2 months.
According to the lawyer, at the court session during the selection of the measure of restraint, Ibrahim stated that the piercing-cutting object allegedly found under his pillow did not belong to him, and he rejected the charge. -03B06--
