Drivers from Salyan complain of Transport to President Ilham Aliyev
Ten drivers of large trucks from Salyan complained to President Ilham Aliyev of the transport company MEN TRANS. As the head of the regional NGO Promoting Democracy Emil Mammadov told Turan, these drivers were involved by the company without labor contracts for transportation on the Astara-Alat road construction project.
The drivers complain that they are not given a salary from December last year. A few days ago the company said it would not pay the salary, since it operates at a loss. The drivers asked the President to help them receive their salaries.
* The 112 km. plot of the Alat-Astara highway (from the interchange at 70 km. south of Baku to the Iranian border) is funded by the World Bank. The project's customer is JSC Azeryolservice at the Ministry of Transport. The construction Alat-Astara began in February 2011 and will be completed in 2013
The implementation of the project is accompanied by periodic scandals. Previously, the landowners complained of inadequate compensation. In addition, several times there were protests held by local workers against the tyranny of the foreign employees of one of the contractors of the project - the Italian company Todini. After the protests, two managers of the local office of the company were transferred to another job. -06D -

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
