"Ecofront" demands to disclose the results of the work of the government commission inthe village of Seyudlu
Baku/04.07.23/Turan: "Ecofront" public organization announced the beginning of multidirectional actions to bring to the attention of the world community the truth about the unwillingness of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan to report the results of the work of the government commission in the village of Seyudlu.

By order of Ali Asadov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on June 21 a commission was established to monitor and assess the situation in the village of Soyudlu in Gedabey region. Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev was appointed Chairman of the commission.
Despite the fact that the last two weeks have already passed since the beginning of the commission's work, the results of its work have not been disclosed. At the request of Turan, the press service of the MES reported on the continuation of the work of the commission, which was not interrupted during the holidays of Gurban Bayram.
"The samples taken are being studied, analyses are being carried out. The results of the study will be reported to the public," the head of the press service of the Ministry said.
In an interview with journalists, Elshad Mammadov, the representative of the gold mining company "Azerbaijan International Mining Company" said that there was no harmful impact of the company's waste storage on public health and the environment. In an interview with Turan, Fuad Hasanov, a member of the NGO coalition to increase transparency in the extractive industry, expressed distrust of this conclusion.
* On June 20, the residents of Seyudlu held a protest action, claiming that the environment was polluted by a nearby gold mining enterprise. The police violently dispersed the protest. As a result of the crackdown, 10 people were injured, five were detained and arrested administratively for 20 days. Another resident was fined 1,500 manats. Later, several more people were detained.
