Elchin Hasanzadeh: I was arrested for exposing corruption facts
Baku/11.06.21/Turan: The blogger Elchin Hasanzadeh, currently in custody, has been placed iat a medical institution of the Ministry of Justice, Hasanzadeh himself reported to the Voice of America radio.
During his incarceration he faced heart and kidneys problems. "I am currently being examined, and will be transferred to the ward in a few days," Hasanzadeh said.
He asked to convey his message to the head of state, international organizations and the media as saying that he had suffered for corruption .
"It is the head of state that called on the media to expose corruption and help him fight against it. I filmed and showed the facts of corruption, for which I was arrested. In my article, I wrote "big-horned official", followung which I was sentenced to 8 months of imprisonment, "he said.
It should be reminded that on March 2, the Sheki Court of Appeal sentenced bloggers and activists - Elchin Hasanzadeh and Ibrahim Turksoy to 8 months of imprisonment on defamation and insult charges.
A claim as a private criminal charge was filed by the head of the city housing and maintenance department, Shahriyar Mustafayev, demanding to implead Hasanov under Articles 147.1. (slander) and 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code. The reason for the lawsuit is critical publications concerning this official in social networks.
It should be added that earlier, the Mingachevir court sentenced both of them to a year of correctional labor but the bloggers appealed the verdict; however, the court of appeal replaced the sentence with a real term of imprisonment.
Note that Hasanzadeh has also been engaged in human rights activities. In the past he was a deputy editor of the Sumgayit-based newspaper "Yukselish Namine".—03B06
