Eldar Hasanov transferred to hospital of the State Security Service

Baku/15.10.21/Turan: The health n of the former General Prosecutor of Azerbaijan Eldar Hasanov has sharply deteriorated and he was transferred to the military hospital of the State Security Service, said his lawyer Javad Javadov. According to him, in the last 20 days, dizziness, hypertension and other chronic diseases began to progress. At court hearings, he often fainted.

Therefore, in recent years, the trials were accompanied by the participation of ambulance doctors. Despite Hasanov's condition, the trials were held twice a week. The remarks and requests of the defense were not taken into account.

Hasanov should receive treatment in a specialized neurosurgical institution, for this there is also a conclusion of doctors, the lawyer said.  However, for this, the court must change the measure of restraint.

According to the lawyer, the Strasbourg court raised the issue of Hasanov's condition with the Azerbaijani authorities. However, the issue was never resolved.

* Eldar Hasanov was detained on August 13, 2020 by officers of the State Security Service. Charges were brought against him under five Articles: 179.3.2 (misappropriation), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of illegally obtained funds), 308.2 (abuse of office), 308-1.1 (misuse of budget funds) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.

Hasanov is charged with embezzlement and misappropriation while serving as the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro from 2010 to 2020. -06B-
