Elinas Relatives Accuse Investigation of Intention to Hush up the Case

On May 15, on the fortieth day of the suicide of the 8th grade student of Baku school No. 162 Elina Hajiyeva, her relatives made a statement.

Elina's relatives believe that the girl who threw herself out from the window of this educational institution on April 4 died the next day in the hospital due to the fault of the school principal Sevil Abbasova and the deputy head of the executive branch of the Sabail district Khalida Bayramova. The girl was not allowed timely medical care. Hajiyeva was still alive, having been badly injured, and was moved to the principal's office, where ambulance was called later than necessary in emergency cases.

Elina's mom, Sevil Huseynova, and her grandmother, Solmaz Sadigova, posted on Facebook that the allegations that the family had no claims to the investigation were false, that the family was not silent and demanded a fair investigation of the crime committed in the office of the school principal on April 4, 2019.

"We again demand a fair investigation; they want to close the case, and nobody will be put in prison! Examination is not conducted! The investigator does not listen to our testimony! We require the replacement of the investigator. For all 40 days, the investigator never called Elina's mom and did not report on the course of the action. We want people to know. Our Elina was killed. This is not a suicide, this is murder," the author of the text, Elina"s friend who published a statement from the words of Huseynova and Sadigova, reports. The page is called Hitomi Kei.

The relatives claim that the deputy head of the executive power in the district, Khalida Bayramova, did not have the right to shoot the girl maimed from falling from a height and her testimony to the camera without the permission of her parents.

On the outdoor cameras, it was recorded that on April 4, the day of Elina"s suicide attempt, a boy left School 162 and went to a pharmacy where he bought some pills and returned to school. Then, still alive, Elina told her father that she had been drinking the drug Tramal herself (Tramal is intended for the relief of intense pain syndrome of various etiologies in surgery, pediatrics, traumatology, transplantation, gynecology, orthopedics and oncology. The drug is not prescribed to eliminate weak pain).

"This is how they intimidated the child so that she confessed that she had taken the pill herself! We do not know what was in the director"s office that day, but Elina had some strange traces of other hands on her hands, as if she had been dragged somewhere. We don"t know what they did with her, and we don"t know how they intimidated her!" the friend wrote the words of the late schoolgirl"s mother and grandmother.

She reported that after the publication of her posts in the social network, some people from Bayramova"s office called her, threatening to deprive her mother of her driver"s license.

The friend reported that the school principal Sevinj Abbasova, in respect of which the court on April 16 chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest, removed WhatsApp of Elina, taking possession of her cell phone. She broke and threw out the SIM card in the phone, and washed Elina's blood from the asphalt.

The crime scene investigation continues, the results are not reported to the family, relatives are not allowed to bring an expert from another country, which causes the child"s relatives to suspect that the authorities intend to hush up the criminal case.

"Why? Is it all bought? Already everyone was interrogated 100 times, but there was no progress. What I am talking about the director, the investigator does not write down, although he said that the investigation needed information about the principal of School No. 162. Everything is very confusing! Please spread it, let everyone know what is happening in our country!" Elina"s friend asked.

On April 6, the school principal S. Abbasova said in an interview with www.1news.az that some media outlets disseminate unverified information, and she urges them to be more responsible and empathetic on this sensitive issue.

"Elina Hajiyeva, who previously studied at School No. 203, and before that - at School No. 49, was accepted to School No. 162 since last November. She was under constant supervision of the school leadership because of her behavior. The school psychologist also talked more than once with the student and her mother about this, information about this was communicated to the relevant state authorities. Currently, law enforcement agencies are investigating the details of the incident," the principal emphasized.

The mother of the late girl, Sevil Hajiyeva, said that Elina had jumped out of the window because of harassment from classmates and high school students. "The school has video surveillance cameras installed, and on the frames you can see her daughter being kicked and given cuffs. Recently Elina dyed her hair, first in a light color, then in red. The school psychologist, instead of helping, found fault with the color of her hair. I didn"t know, but it turns out that my daughter complained to her friend that the biology teacher, Leila Mikayilovna, was rude to her. I tried to talk to the teacher, but she did not answer the calls.

Once, a friend of Elina told the head of the school that the boys from the 10-11th grades of the Azerbaijani sector kicked my daughter several times and persuaded others not to communicate with her, and insulted her. "The head teacher asked my daughter"s friend not to tell us about it and promised to sort it out. And the class teacher Chimnaz Hajiyeva never called and asked where my daughter was, and why she did not attend classes. When she put on bracelets and earrings, the teachers immediately reacted, and the aggression towards my daughter and the bad manners of the schoolchildren were turned a blind eye," the girl"s mother told the journalist.

An audio recording, originally published on Movqe.az, is distributed on the social network, from which it follows that the School 162 principal, Sevinj Abbasova, apparently encouraged journalists to write defamatory information about the family of the 8th grade student Elina Hajiyeva. The principal urged journalists to point out that Elina was from a depraved and dysfunctional family.

The Ministry of Education issued a statement informing about the dismissal of the school principal during the investigation and the intention to wait until the official announcement of the results of the investigation, after which the Ministry will take decisive measures. It was decided to expand in schools in the country activities for public control over the educational process and the involvement of specialists to monitor the psychological state of students and teachers. These activities were initiated in some educational institutions as part of the Safe School pilot project. The 162nd school was not a participant of the pilot project, the spokesman for the Ministry of Education, Jasarat Valehov, told Turan.
