Elkhan Aliyev`s health is deteriorating in the pre-trial detention center
Baku/10.11.23/Turan: Elkhan Aliyev, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) who is under arrest has serious health problems.
On November 9, members of the activist's family met with him in the pre-trial detention center. According to them, after suffering a heart attack a few days ago, his condition worsened even more, the PNFA reported. Doctors revealed bruises on his back, and the burning in his chest intensified.
Human rights activist Rufat Safarov believes that Aliyev's life is in danger. Before his arrest, Elkhan suffered a stroke and is now being held in custody without providing the necessary medical care, the human rights activist said. He called on the leadership of the Penitentiary Service to transfer Aliyev to the hospital and provide the necessary treatment. The human rights activist also pointed out the oppositionist's difficult social situation. There are three young children in the family and they live in a rented apartment. It was not possible to get comments from the Penitentiary system.
*Elkhan Aliyev was detained on the afternoon of July 26 by employees of the Sabunchi police of Baku. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that two other people, Yusif Aliyev and Vafadar Akhundov, were also detained together with Aliyev. All three are accused of selling a land plot using forged documents. The case was initiated under articles on fraud and the use of false documents. The case was initiated at the request of the buyer of the plot.
In his video message before his detention, Aliyev announced a possible provocation against him. On July 27, the Sabunchy District Court arrested him for 3 months. Human rights activists recognized Aliyev as a political prisoner. -03B06-

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already announced the names of the leading candidates on its website. Hours after the election, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov stated at a briefing that 413 out of 685 municipalities had already been formed, with 7,791 candidates identified as leaders.
