Extra–regional forces are trying to spoil relations between Iran and Azerbaijan - Ilham Aliyev
Baku/10.11.23/Turan: On November 9, a meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran took place in Tashkent within the framework of the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
According to the press service of the Azerbaijani President, the Iranian president expressed satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations. He also congratulated Azerbaijan on the liberation of Karabakh and expressed Iran's readiness to participate in the restoration of the liberated territories.
According to Raisi, transport projects between the two countries continue to strengthen. "The Agbend route across the Araz River and the projects agreed between us meet the interests of both countries. This ensures Azerbaijan's connection with Nakhchivan and removes existing concerns," Raisi said.
"I am sure that our relations, contrary to the wishes of our opponents, are improving and the plans of other countries to spoil our relations will fail," he continued. In response, Ilham Aliyev said that he was glad to meet with Raisi and thanked him for his congratulations on the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Aliyev called the project to create transport communications across the Araz River promising. "Due to the fact that Armenia has not fulfilled its obligations to ensure communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan. It's their choice and they're making a big mistake.
I am glad that we were able to coordinate the routes of railways and highways along the southern bank of the Araz River and this project will become part of the North-South transport corridor. We will have two routes: through the Astara River and through the Araz," Aliyev said.
In previous years, extra-regional forces also tried to interfere in friendly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan. "However, these attempts have not yielded results, I am sure that it will be the same now," Aliyev stressed.
During the meeting, the issues of construction of the Rasht-Astara railway section and cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and within the framework of international organizations were also touched upon. ---0---
