Baku / 23.05.18 / Turan: Family members of the arrested Russian citizen Saleh Rustamov addressed to the Russian Foreign Ministry and the embassy of this country in Baku to provide him with legal assistance. Turan was informed about this by his brother Taleh Rustamov.
S. Rustamov was arrested on May 8 on charges of illicit drug trafficking on a large scale. He was detained in the Shamkir region when he was leaving Azerbaijan, where he had come as a guest. Two days later, his nephew Vidadi Rustamli was arrested on the same charge.
Both are still held in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. Only once during this time, a lawyer was admitted to S. Rustamov, who informed the lawyer about the use of torture and inhuman treatment against him.
According to his brother, today is the deadline for Rustamov's detention in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and he has to be transferred to the prison of the Penitentiary Service. However, the lawyer is not allowed to meet the arrested.
The relatives are worried about the fate of the arrested. In response to their appeal to the Ombudsman's office, they were informed that the complaint of torture was sent to the prosecutor's office for investigation.
