Ex-Minister of Communications Ali Abbasov Becomes Advisor to Academy of Sciences
Baku / 24.05.17 / Turan: Former Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has been appointed adviser to the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). The President of the Academy Akif Alizadeh announced this at a meeting of the Presidium on 24 May.
Recall that in the period from 2004 to 2015, Abbasov served as Minister of Communications and Information Technology. He was fired by Ilham Aliyev on November 12, 2015 without announcing the reasons. However, the dismissal coincided with a loud scandal and the initiation of a criminal case on the facts of corruption and fraud in especially large amounts, which covered the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of National Security.
More than 10 high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Communications and subsidiaries were arrested and sentenced to long imprisonment. The total amount of the theft exceeded 70 million manats.
Note that the arrest of officials of the Ministry of Communications coincided with the arrests of more than 20 MNS officers accused of similar crimes using the means of the Ministry of Communications. -71D-

The project for the creation of a transport interchange center at the “Koroglu” metro station has been prepared and agreed upon by the Land Transport Agency (AYNA).
