Explosion on Tanker General Hazi Aslanov
Baku / 25.10.20 / Turan: A rescue operation is underway in the Sea of Azov after the explosion on the General Hazi Aslanov tanker. This was reported to RBC by the press service of Rosmorrechflot.
Information about the incident was received on October 24 at 18:40 - an explosion occurred in the second tank. “The vessel was heading to Rostov-on-Don, having followed before that through the Kerch Strait. It was already at the exit, in the Sea of Azov directly,” Rosmorrechflot said.
The ship's crew consists of 13 people, and ten of them were rescued by the motor ship Sirius passing nearby. Rescuers are looking for three people who are overboard. At the same time, a fire did not start on the ship, and it remains afloat. Three rescue ships, Mercury, Impulse and Alexander Sizontsev, arrived at the scene.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations told RBC that the tanker was empty. TASS reported that the explosion, presumably, occurred due to residual fuel vapors.
