FC Garabagh Passed to Third Qualifying Stage of Champions League
Baku / 26.08.20 / Turan: The Azerbaijani football champion FC Garabagh Aghdam, having beaten the Moldovan FC Sheriff with a score of 2: 1, passed to the third qualifying stage of the Champions League.
As a reminder, due to the coronavirus pandemic, one game is played at each qualifying stage.
In general, the game was held with the full advantage of the Azerbaijani champion. The score was opened in the 22nd minute. Uros Matic, who was playing for the first season for Aghdam, converted the penalty awarded for the knocking down of the Spanish legionnaire of Garabagh Jaime Romero in the penalty area.
At the 37th minute, the Moldovan club was in the minority. The referee showed a direct red card to the opponent's footballer Anatol Abang for playing with an open foot against FC Garabagh defender Badavi Huseynov.
The champions of Azerbaijan distinguished themselves for the second time in the 63rd minute. Mahir Emreli completed a beautiful combination played by Gerje, Matic and Zubir.
The guests were able to win back one of the conceded goals. On the 78th minute, the substitute striker Castineda, having received the ball in the penalty area of FC Garabagh without encountering any resistance from the defenders, was able to calmly handle it and get into the goal after an irresistible blow.

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
