FC Karabakh Not to Protest against Referees Bias

Baku / 23.11.17 / Turan: The football club Karabakh will not send a protest to UEFA in connection with the decisions of the Portuguese referee Manuel De Souza during yesterday"s match with FC Chelsea. This was announced by the club's coach Gurban Gurbanov at the post-match press conference.

"There is discontent about the judge"s decision, but nothing will change. As for the appointment of a penalty, I cannot say anything definite, but the removal of our player was superfluous, since an 11-meter penalty was appointed," Gurbanov said.

Recall that at the 18th minute of the match the referee, having appointed a penalty into the goal of FC Karabakh, simultaneously removed the team captain Rashad Sadigov from the field, thus applying double punishment.

Note that many judges refuse this practice, if the violation was not a traumatic injury.

In the second half, the Portuguese referee appointed another penalty into the goal of FC Karabakh, and it was more than controversial.

Former FIFA referee Tahir Suleymanov, commenting on these actions for Turan, noted that the rules have a lot of emptiness.

"FIFA and UEFA recommend judges to manage the match in accordance with the spirit of the game and not to stick to the templates.

In the episode with the removal of Rashad Sadigov, the judge decided on the basis of a template, and not in accordance with the spirit of the game," Suleymanov said.

Touching the second penalty into the goal of FC Karabakh, the expert stressed that the judge"s decision showed his inconsistency with the level of the Champions League.

"In every game there are dozens of such cases. The judge and his unskilled actions completed the game already at the 20th minute," he believes.

Touching on the unwillingness of FC Karabakh to send a protest, Suleymanov believes that in any case, UEFA will decide. "It's impossible for the UEFA functionaries responsible for this sphere to be satisfied with the actions of the Portuguese judge," Suleymanov said. -71D-
