Forecasters predict strong winds in Azerbaijan
On Thursday, 11 July in Baku and the Apsheron peninsula is expected strengthening of north-west wind up to 15-18 m/s. At night and in the morning at times the wind strength will reach up to 20-23 m/s. In the first half of the day there is a probability of rain in some places of the peninsula, the National Hydrometeorological Service under the Ministry of Ecology of Azerbaijan reports.
On 11-13 July, rain will occasionally fall in some mountainous and foothill regions of Azerbaijan. In some areas precipitation will be short-term heavy rainfall, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and hail.
East wind will reach 15-18 m/s, in some places - 20-23 m/s at times.
Water content will increase in the rivers. Short-term floods and mud-flows are expected in the rivers of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus.

A coalition of 159 professors and academics from 100 universities across 28 countries has urged Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, and COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev, to advocate for the release of Dr. Gubad Ibadoghlu, an academic economist and environmental activist who has been under indefinite house arrest since July 2023.
