Former head of Neftchala sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment
Baku/29.10.21/Turan: Former head of Neftchala executive power Ismail Veliyev was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. This verdict was adopted today by the Lankaran court of grave crimes.
In February 2020, the State Security Service held an operation in Neftchala region following which the head of executive power, Ismail Veliyev, his first deputy Vurgun Akperov; head of the architecture and construction department Vugar Nagiyev; head of the administrative management and work with local bodies of self-administration Anar Jafarov, chief doctor of the region' central hospital Telman Zakhidov and head of the education department Ajdar Kerimov were detained on suspicion of receiving bribes.
Other persons involved in the case were imprisoned as well.
According to the court verdict, Vurgun Akperov was sentenced to 9 years, Ajdar Kerimov to 8.5 years, Telman Zakhidov to 8 years and 3 months, Vugar Nagiyev to 8 years and Anar Jafarov to 8 years of imprisonment.
The court found the defendants guilty under Articles 179 (embezzlement), 308 (abuse of power) and 311 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.-0-
