Baku/26.07.22/Turan: Ilyas Makhmudov, a former judge of the Sumgayit City Court, was arrested on charges of accepting bribes and official crimes. This is stated in the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office on Tuesday.
A criminal case on the facts of illegal pension assignments and other violations was initiated by the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General on the basis of material from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
The investigation found that in 2008-2019, Judge Ilyas Makhmudov twice made unfair decisions in civil cases for bribes.
Besides, in 25 cases, he intentionally included false information about work experience and disability in judicial acts.
As a result, pensions were illegally awarded, which caused damage to the state by 243,441 manats.
Mahmudov was charged under Articles 295.1 (deliberate imposition of unfair sentence, resolutions, decisions and definitions), 308.2 (abuse of official authority, which entailed grave consequences), 311.3.2 (repeated receipt of bribes) and 313- (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
