Former Milli Mejlis deputy Rafael Jabrailov arrested
Baku/02.04.21/Turan: Former deputy of the Milli Mejlis Rafael Jabrailov was arrested on charges of fraud. According to the statement of the Prosecutor General's Office, Jabrailov is accused of large-scale fraud through abuse of office.
The investigation established that Jabrailov, when he was a deputy, promised a resident of Baku, who bought 2 hectares of land in the Binagadi region from his brother Rauf Jabrailov, to issue a "deed of purchase". Having received 240 thousand manats from the person who bought the land, Rafael Jabrailov appropriated this amount.
Due to the presence of sufficient evidence of misappropriation of someone else's property through deception and abuse, Jabrailov was charged under Article 178.3.2 (fraud with causing large damage) of the Criminal Code.
The court arrested Jabrailov for the period of the investigation. An investigation is underway to establish all the criminal acts committed by Jabrailov. Two years ago, the media reported that Jabrailov had pledged his deputy mandate as a guarantee that he would pay off a debt of $ 300,000.
Jabrailov could not return the money taken from several people, explaining this by an unsuccessful investment in the construction business, when apartments in a multi-storey residential building built by his brother could not be sold. Against the background of this scandal, Jabrailov was forced to give up his deputy mandate.
Jabrailov was the author of a number of reactionary legislative initiatives restricting the rights and freedoms of citizens. — 16D06-

By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
