Formula 1 will be held in Baku in June
Baku/02.03.21/Turan: Baku is preparing for the next Formula 1 competition. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix competitions will be held without fans, due to the ban on mass events in Azerbaijan. Competitions are scheduled for June 4-6, stated at a seminar held on March 2 by the Baku City Ring Operation Company.
Formula 1 has been held in the country since 2016. Large funds are allocated for the organization of the competition. In 2019, an agreement was reached to extend Formula 1 until 2023.
When signing the agreement, Minister of Sports and Youth A. Rahimov noted that the competition would have a significant impact on the development of tourism in Azerbaijan.
In 2020, the competition was canceled due to the pandemic. Since last year's Grand Prix did not take place, the commitment to a new 3-year contract was extended until 2024.
Formula 1 has been held since 1950 in various countries and these competitions are called the Grand Prix. -0—
