Five PFPA Activists Detained in Sumgayit
Baku / 11.02.19 / Turan: Five activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) were detained in Sumgayit today.
According to the PFPA, they were detained in front of the Sumgayit Court of Appeal, where the complaint of the head of the Shamakhi branch of the party Zahir Mammadli, who had been arrested for 30 days, was considered.
The party activists Elnur Hasanov, Elvin Magsudlu, Mahir Rustamli, Hidayat Rasulzadeh and Elman Atayev were taken to the Sumgayit police department.
The complaint of Mammadli was dismissed.
He was detained on February 5 in Shamakhi and arrested for 30 days under Article 535.1 (no subordination to the police) of the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO).
The PFPA said the day before and after the opposition rally on January 19, pressure on the party activists increased. More than 50 people were detained, with administrative fines and arrests.
