Human Rights Activist and Journalist Summoned to Prosecutor�s Office
Baku / 22.11.17 / Turan: The head of the public association Legal Education Center of the Sumgait Youth and editor-in-chief of the online publication Yukselish Namine Elchin Mammad was summoned to the Sumgait city prosecutor's office.
"This morning, I was called by the senior assistant to the city prosecutor, Elviz Salayev, and told that today at 15:00 I should visit the prosecutor's office. I asked about the reasons, and they told me that I would know it on the spot," Mammad said.
He links the call with his human rights activities and publications on the website Yukselish Namine.
According to him, recently a series of critical materials on the restriction of the representation of citizens in courts, increased pressure on lawyers, and violation of the rights of political prisoners were published on the website.
In addition, as a legal expert, Mammad went to civil trials as a legal representative.
Mammad has repeatedly been summoned to the prosecutor"s office and the police, and has been detained at the border. -06B--
