Hundreds of Azerbaijanis awaiting return from Turkey
Baku/08.07.20/Turan: Hundreds of Azerbaijanis for the fourth month are awaiting in the border Turkish cities of Kars and Igdir admission to their country.
Among them are pregnant women, children, the elderly, and the sick.
“We came to Turkey to look for the job, as we cannot find job in Azerbaijan .However, in March, due to quarantine imposed in connection with the coronavirus epidemic, many of us lost our jobs. We decided to return to Azerbaijan, but they still do not let us in. Our money is running out, and we don’t know what to do next,” said one of the citizens of Azerbaijan.
According to him, the state does not render them any assistance. People are accommodated in dormitories, shelters, and some sleep in parks.
In the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, citizens are advised to buy plane tickets.
However, budget flights, according to citizens, will open after August 7, and they do not have the money to buy expensive tickets.
The attempts to get comments in the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry were futile.
In early July, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva said that those who wish to return from Turkey could take advantage of AZAL special flights, as well as flights of Turkish Airlines.
She also noted that the return of citizens from the Russian Federation and Turkey is connected with the possibilities of quarantine points. The arrival of people is provided with the vacancy of places in them. —21D-
