IDPs Complain about Intolerable Living Conditions
Baku / 04.07.17 / Turan: Internally displaced persons living in the dormitory of Professional Lyceum No. 4 in the Nizami district of Baku complain of appalling living conditions.
The building accommodates more than 30 families of internally displaced persons from the Zanghelan and Jabrail districts.
One of the refugees, Narcichek Behbudova has lived in the basement of the hostel since 1994.
Initially, this place was not suitable for living at all. Refugees themselves somehow made it suitable.
"The President does not know about our conditions. The state agencies do not tell him about our situation," says Behbudova.
Ganira Gurbanova has been living in this hostel for 21 years already and complains about gas supply and poor sanitary conditions. They live with 4 family members in one small room.
The resettler from the Zanghelan district Svetlana Garayeva says that every year the State Committee of Refugees conducts a check here. The last time two young employees of the department accused the refugees of lying. According to them, they deceive the authorities that they live in such conditions. In their opinion, it is impossible to live in such conditions.
As noted by Garayev, the officials could not stay in the premises for two minutes, while people have been living here for more than 20 years. -06D--
