Ikram Rahimov Complains of Extortion
Baku / 07.10.19 / Turan: Ikram Rahimov, editor of the realliq.info website, was transferred to Prison No. 6 to serve a 3-year prison sentence.
There he was placed in a medical unit due to health problems after two long hunger strikes.
Relatives told Turan that Rahimov stopped the second hunger strike due to a sharp deterioration in his health.
In a telephone conversation with his family, Rahimov complained about the prison staff extorting money from him to meet with his family.
In turn, the department of public relations of the Prison Service rejected allegations of extortion, calling the accusations untrue.

On September 18, the Court of Appeal confirmed Rahimov"s guilt of extortion by threats, applying Article 62 of the Criminal Code (the imposition of a lesser punishment prescribed by law), and reduced the prison term to 3 years. On the same day, Rahimov again began a hunger strike. -06D-
