Ikram Rahimov does not stop the dry hunger strike
Baku/14.08.19/Turan: The imprisoned editor of the site "realliq.info" Ikram Rahimov continues the eighth day of a dry hunger strike. As a result, he had serious health problems, said his family members.
According to the same source, on August 14, Rahimov called relatives from the detention center-1.
"His voice was very weak and hoarse. Due to health problems, he was transferred to the medical unit of the pre-trial detention center. He asked to transmit to the media that he continues a dry hunger strike until the very end, "said the same source.
Rahimov asked family members to call on the Ombudsman, human rights organizations, the Red Cross to inquire about his fate.
Turan"s attempts to get comments from the Prison Service failed.
* Rahimov was detained on October 26, 2018, charged with extortion by threats and arrested. Before his arrest, Rahimov said that he was being persecuted because of criticism of the assistant to the president Ali Hasanov. In court, he repeated this.
On June 12, the court sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison. On August 7, a preliminary hearing was held in the Baku Court of Appeal in the case of Rahimov. The defense requested a re-trial and new interrogations of witnesses and victims due to falsification of their testimony in the trial court.
The lawyer also asked to appoint a re-examination of the audio recording of Rahimov's telephone conversations for the same reason. However, the applications were not granted and the next meeting was scheduled for 21 August. In the courtroom that Rahimoc said he wouyld start a hunger strike in sign of protest. -21D--
