Imamzadeh Complex Opened in Gandja after Restoration
During the visit to Gandja, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the religious complex Imamzadeh after capital repair and restoration.
The complex Imamzadeh is an architectural monument of the VIII century and is one of the valuable monuments of Azerbaijani architecture.
The main attraction of the complex is the mausoleum, where the son of the fifth Imam Muhammad Baghir, Ibrahim is buried.
Imamzadeh for centuries has been and remains a place of pilgrimage for Shiites from different regions of Azerbaijan and other countries.
Throughout the history the monument has repeatedly been destroyed. Last time it was restored in the XIX century. The present-day restoration works in Imamzadeh began in 2010.
During this time, the head of state signed several orders on the allocation of funds for the restoration of the complex. -05D06-
