Inhabitant of Masally, Who Owed Bank, Arranges Self-Immolation
Baku / 10.01.18 / Turan: A resident of the Sharaf village of the Masally district, Raghif Zeynalov, made an attempt of suicide on January 9 because of his credit debt to a bank.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 125 (bringing to suicide) of the Criminal Code. Turan was informed about this in the Masally district prosecutor's office.
On January 9, Zeynalov poured gasoline on himself in front of the Masally district court building and set fire to protest against deducting his salary to pay off the debt to the bank.
Zeynalov was taken to the Republican Burn Center in Baku. As the Turan news agency was told, Zeynalov was placed in the intensive care unit in a grave condition. -03B-

Today, on September 16, a new academic year has begun in Azerbaijan. According to a statement from the State Agency for Preschool and General Education, 132,261 children have been admitted to the first grade for the 2024-2025 academic year. This is lower compared to last year's figures. According to the Ministry of Science and Education, in the 2023-2024 academic year, 137,862 children were admitted to the first grade of the country's general education schools.
