IPD called judges - the worst offenders of the law
Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD) on Friday announced the traditional annual award to judges - most persistent offenders of the law – a "striped robe."
The event was to be held in the hotel Diplomat, but the management refused to provide a place, although earlier this consent was given. In connection with this the ceremony was held in the office of the IPD.
As Director of IMD Leila Yunus reminded, awarding "striped robe" is a result of monitoring of trials, conducted from 2004
At the end of 2012 the third place in this sad ranking of judges was taken by the judge of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes Ramella Allahverdiyeva that despite absolutely fabricated nature of the charge against the chief editor of Khural Avaz Zeynalli delays the process for more than 8 months.
The second place was awarded the administrative judge of the Supreme Economic Court Zakir Guliyev. For example, he refuses to accept appeals from judgments of the first and second instances of crimes against property.
The same judge acquitted the demolition of the IPD office.
The first "premium" was awarded to two judges – Turgay Huseynov from the Narimanov district court and Rizvan Safarov from the Baku Appeal Court. They were awarded this way for making a guilty verdict against the son of Shirinbadzhi Rzayeva Ilgar Rzayev.
Thus, due to the harsh criticism by Rzayeva of the authorities for violation of the property rights of citizens and the forcible eviction of residents from Fizuli and Sh.Badalbeyli Streets the authorities decided to punish her by arresting her son, who had been planted drugs.
Rzayeva herself stated that the authorities use such measures to frighten all mothers.
It is noteworthy that, despite the court decision to issue Rzayeva AZN 61,000 as compensation for the demolished house, the Baku Mayor's Office does not execute the judgment. Bailiffs of the Sabail district do not ensure the execution of the verdict of the Baku Mayor's Office.
"Striped robes" will be sent by mail to the judges. - 05C06-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
