It is possible to be infected coronavirus after vaccination - chief infectious disease
Baku/12.04.21/Turan: The Ministry of Health of the country reports on the vaccination of more than one million 177 thousand people in Azerbaijan. This means that every tenth resident of the country is protected from a dangerous disease, and more than 286 thousand citizens of the country received natural protection after having been ill with coronavirus.
However, the number of cases continues to grow and more than 2,000 new infections and more than 30 deaths are recorded daily. There are more and more reports of cases of coronavirus, despite vaccination.
The chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health Teyar Eyvazov answered the question of Turan about the causes of the disease after vaccination.
He said vaccination does not guarantee against coronavirus disease. “Some of the vaccinated have not yet received the second injection, a month after the first, and the body's protection (a sufficient amount of antibodies) appears sometime after the re-vaccination. Only then can we talk about the effect of the vaccine. During this time period, citizens can get sick with coronavirus,” Eyvazov said.
“But you can get sick with coronavirus even after completing the full vaccination procedure due to the natural characteristics of the body - a weak resistance to infection. In such people, immunity is weak and the vaccine does not give one hundred percent effect. If the analysis shows a low amount of antibodies in the body, then a new vaccination is needed. Vaccinated patients tolerate the infection better than those who did not receive it,” said Teyar Eyvazov. -0-
