Journalist Ilkin Mammadli is detained
Baku / 09.11.18 / Turan: On Thursday, at about 17:00, freelance journalist Ilkin Mammadli turned to ASAN Xidmət, located in Bakikhanov village to obtain a passport. There he was told that he would not be given a passport, since his travel abroad was prohibited, and he himself was wanted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Turan was told by lawyer and human rights activist Samira Agayeva. According to her, after that Mammadli was taken to the 13th police station of the Sabunchu district, and after that, according to the information of the journalist"s staff, he was taken to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A few hours later, on duty at the headquarters of this department, the father and the detainee"s lawyer were told that the journalist would stay there until morning. Today, Mammadov"s lawyer and relatives were also unable to obtain any information about him. They appealed to the Ombudsman"s Office, which promised to investigate the incident. During the 2015 Nardaran events, Mammadli was placed under administrative arrest and subsequently summoned as a witness at the trial of the leaders and activists of the Muslim Unity Movement. -0--
