Karabakh and Gabala Football Clubs Join Group Stage of Europa League

The Karabakh and Gabala football clubs from Azerbaijan joined the group stage of the Europa League, winning in the playoffs by the sum of the two games, respectively, the Swedish Gothenburg and Slovenian Maribor.

Karabakh after the defeat at the guest game 0: 1 a week ago in the return match in Baku on August 25 seized the initiative from the beginning and kept it until the end.

The score at the 19th minute was opened by the captain of Karabakh, Rashad Sadykhov after a corner in the so-called Azeri style. So Sadykhov closed the bottom pass after his colleagues deliberately let the ball pass to him at a pseudo back swing.

Encouraged by the success, the Azerbaijani footballers doubled the score in seven minutes, when a three-way combination was successfully completed by Muaram Muaram.

And at the 51st minute Muaram brought to the kick position Dani Quintana, who brought the score to a major one. The match ended with the score 3: 0.

Thus, Karabakh for the third season in a row makes its way to the group stage of the Europa League.

Gabala won Maribor from Slovenia in the first match with the score 3: 1 and was mainly defending its gate at the second (guest) game.

At the beginning of the second half, Gabala even held a full advantage, but missed several scoring chances.

The hosts managed to take the initiative and scored a goal at the 66th minute. This inspired the Slovenes. However, the hosts failed to score another goal despite the fact that from the 69th minute Gabala remained with ten men after the removal of Theo Weeks.

Gabala for the second season in a row has joined the group stage of the Europa League. -06B--
