Lawyer is not allowed to visit Fuad Gahramanli
Baku/04.08.20/Turan: For 10 days now, the authorities have not allowed lawyers to visit one of the leaders of the Popular Front Party, Fuad Gahramanli, who was arrested on July 23 on charges of preparing a violent seizure of power.
Today, without explaining the reasons, the prosecutor's office refused Bahruz Bayramovto meet with lawyer.
Earlier, there was an unofficial information that Gahramanli is being tortured, and forced to speak against the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Karimli. The authorities later denied this by sending Ombudswoman Sabina Aliyev to Gahramanli.
The authorities have put forward such grave accusations as an attempted coup d'état, but cannot present any evidence to the public. All this has caused sharp criticism of the international community, which is increasingly calling for the introduction of sanctions against government officials guilty of illegal arrests and reprisals against critics of the government in Azerbaijan.
Another wave of repression in Azerbaijan began after the demonstration on July 15, which began under slogans in support of the army, but ended with calls for the resignation of the government. The government found nothing better than to accuse the Popular Front Party of attempting to seize power. -03B-

By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
