The decline in interest in reading books, a look at school-family relations, and the rise in price of several agricultural products are the topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan discusses the question of why the level of reading books has sharply decreased. The expert believes this has nothing to do with the poverty of people. Publishers produce any books just to sell, and the quality is not taken into account.
There is no real book business in the country, and the writers themselves finance the publication of their books. Experts believe it is necessary to establish a book business.
The website Modern.az writes about the suicide of the eighth-grader of school №162, discussing what happened with the MP Fazil Mustafa. He believes the question of who is to blame should be considered on a legal plane.
Is the director the only one to blame? Would the suicide not have happened, if there had been another director? He believes that part of the problem is in the family. There is another problem - in Azerbaijan this is the gap between school and family, the MP says.
The website Oxu.az writes about the rise in price of potatoes and onions. This is primarily due to the cessation of the supply of these products from Iran. As you know, the Cabinet of Ministers has raised duties on the export of potatoes and onions from the country, in order to ensure the domestic market. To date, onions are sold at 2 manat per kg, and potatoes are sold at 1.5 manat.
Azerbaijan"s annual need for onions is 160 thousand tons, and 230 thousand tons of onions are produced in the country, while only 7 thousand tons are exported. It turns out that 63 thousand tons of onions should have remained in the stock, which means the numbers do not reflect the real state of affairs. ---0------

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
