Problems in the production of persimmons, limit on eggs, and metropolitan traffic jams are the leading topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the production of persimmons in Agdash and its export to foreign markets. The author tells about the farmers of one of the villages of the region where there are 380 farms. Of these, 300 are engaged in the production of persimmons on an area of more than 220 hectares.
One of the farmers says that last year a 10-kilogram box of persimmons was sold for 8-9 manat. This year, the price dropped to 3 manat, and this year more persimmons was produced than in the past.
Persimmons are mainly exported to Russia, where the national currency has fallen in price, but customs duties have increased. All this affects prices.
The website Modern.az writes that in Baku the sale of eggs is limited. The author discusses the reasons for the shortage of eggs, one of which is the regular pestilence in large poultry farms. The mass death of chickens took place in the farms of Hajigabul and Siyazan.
The Food Safety Agency explains the lack of eggs with seasonality, since the need for them has increased, although the potential for the production of eggs and chicken meat in Azerbaijan is great.
In October, the price of eggs was 20-22 gapik, and now the price has increased, and the deficit still occurs, the author notes.
The website Oxu.az writes about the flow of the population to the capital and gives suggestions of MPs to solve this problem.
Baku has a high population density and large traffic jams, which is why proposals are being made to transfer universities to the regions and even to transfer the capital itself.
While 1.5 or 2 million people lived in Baku at the beginning of the 1990s, now this number has grown twofold, the author says.
MPs are proposing to open jobs in Sumgayit and to develop regions in order to reduce the population density in the capital.
