The refusal of the family of General Polad Gashimov from the Qasem Suleimani prize, Lavrov's visit to Azerbaijan, the possibility of the Azerbaijani army entering Khankendi, the reason for the decrease in the number of cars in the capital are topics of today's media.
The website “Moderator.az” writes that the mother of the martyr General Polad Gashimov refused the award given to her son by the Iranian side. The Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan and the representative of Seyid Ali Hamnei Ali Akpar Ojagnijad visited the family of Shehid General Polad Gashimov.
The family was awarded a medal named after Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed on January 3, 2020 in Baghdad.
Later, the Gashimov family denied this information, saying that they did not accept the award. The family and brother of Polad Gashimov said they did not accept any awards, let no one speculate in the name of General Gashimov.
The website "Bizimyolinfo.az" discusses with political observers the forthcoming visit of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Azerbaijan. Mubariz Geyushlu believes that Lavrov's visit will not solve the problems, since Russia and Armenia are not interested in resolving the conflict in Karabakh.
It is likely that during Lavrov's visit the issue of holding a military parade in Khankendi on May 9 and opening communications will be discussed. Such issues as the withdrawal of Armenian militants from Karabakh, the extradition of the separatists and the application of the Azerbaijani manat and laws in Khankendi, will not be resolved.
The website "Modern.az" discusses the possibility of the introduction of Azerbaijani troops into Khojaly, as well as rumors about the transfer of Khankendi to the control of Azerbaijan. In recent days, the Azerbaijani military have been pushing their posts forward. Russia will have to make some concessions so as not to spoil its partnership with Turkey.
The website “Sfera.az” writes that the number of cars in the capital has decreased by 100 thousand. Expert Elmeddin Mammadli believes that this has happened over the past 6 years because of the end of the service life of old cars, the coronavirus pandemic, and because the purchasing power of the population has decreased.

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
