The statement that caused the scandal, the sale of fake mineral water, and the danger of coronavirus tests are the topics of today's media.
The site Yenisabah.az writes about the flare-up of a scandal around taxi tariffs after the statement by the head of the BTA department, Hikmet Babayev. This official said that taxis should be used by wealthy people and that taxis should not be turned into everyday transport.
Economist Natig Jafali called this statement illogical and demeaning to citizens. Taxi services are the only competitive area in the country. Taxis would not be used as much if the city's public transport was operating normally.
If the state intervenes in this area and introduces a single tariff, prices will rise.
The website Oxu.az writes about an incident in Mardakan, where a disinfectant was found in a bottle of Badamli mineral water in a store of the Al Market chain.
According to the buyer, he managed to swallow the liquid and realizing that it was not water, he returned it to the store. After about an hour, the buyer became ill and was placed in a Poison Control Center.
A blood test showed the presence of methyl alcohol. However, no one from Al Market called or apologized. Meanwhile, the buyer's eyesight deteriorated.
The Yeni Avaz website is discussing with the deputy Musa Guliyev the situation with coronavirus tests in private clinics. The deputy believes that any private clinic that has conditions for a test should be given such an opportunity. Prohibitions and restrictions lead to illegal actions. The more healthy competition there is, the more transparency there will be.

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
