Media Review September 11, 2019
The development of oil and gas infrastructure, problems with drinking water in the village of Digah, Guba district, as well as infant mortality are topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that our country has a rich oil and gas infrastructure on land and at sea. An important infrastructure is the Baku Deepwater Jackets Plant, where most of the parts for 8 platforms were built under the "contract of the century".
Another important infrastructure is the Sangchal terminal, which has turned into an oil and gas export center.
Among the modern infrastructure is AMEK-Tekfen-Azfen in Bibiheybat. Some platforms were built by this company.
The website Oxu.az writes about child mortality, which is higher than world indicators. MP Musa Guliyev talks on the issue of food safety. In the fall, a draft law on food safety will be submitted to parliament for discussion.
The Food Safety Agency is fully operational. All products are checked with modern equipment, frequent checks are carried out, however, food poisoning is common.
The most pressing issue is baby food. In Azerbaijan, the mortality rate among children under 5 years old is higher than the world average. This is due to malnutrition. Another problem is the lack of feeding infants breast milk for up to 6 months.
The website Moderator.az writes about the drinking water crisis in the village of Digah, Guba district. Residents of the village claim that throughout the summer there was dirty water, unsuitable for consumption. Water is brought to the villagers in cars. To supply water to the village, a project is needed. Actually, the water in the village was artesian, but there a rock collapsed, blocking the canal. The state must provide the village with water.
