The development of fisheries in the country, artificially high prices, the situation in the banking system are the topics of today's media.
The newspaper "Azerbaijan" writes about the biological resources of the Caspian, recalling that the law on fisheries was adopted back in 1998, and in 2014 some changes were made to it.
In the country, interest in aquaculture is increasing every year, fish breeding plants are created, which are at least 12. However, now the private sector is interested in this, creating small reservoirs for breeding.
The main goal in the development of aquaculture is to fully satisfy the needs of the country's population, but also create opportunities for fish export.
The site "Modern.az" writes about the artificial overpricing in the country, discussing this topic with MP Vahid Akhmedov. According to him, in July-August, food and non-grocery prices in supermarkets increased by 10-15 qepiks. According to him, after the orders of the head of state on increasing salaries and pensions come into force, prices will still rise. In this case, the deputy does not understand why it was necessary to increase salaries and pensions.
The Yeni Musavat newspaper writes about the situation in the banking sector, discussing it with experts. In their opinion, there are signs of a new crisis in this sector. The first sign is excess liquidity and a decline in business loans against this background. The head of the National Bank Elman Rustamov claims that over the 6 months of this year, the issuance of loans increased by 3.6%, but most of them fell to consumer loans, and business loans decreased.
As for overdue loans, as of August 1, their amount is 1 billion 487.4 million manats. Most banks do not fully carry out banking activities.

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. Starting from November 25, dedicated traffic lanes allocated for COP29 conference participants will lose their exclusive status and will be open to all vehicles, according to the Land Transport Agency (AYNA).
