The results of the Chirag project, the reasons for entrepreneurs to refuse bank loans, and the number of prisoners serving a life sentence are the topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the full implementation of the Chirag Oil Project, which was launched in March 2010. As a result, oil production should rise to 360 billion barrels.
The entire Chirag project has been spent $ 4 billion. Another 2 billion dollars will be spent on drilling wells from the platform.
8,000 people were involved in this project, most of them are citizens of Azerbaijan. On January 28, 2014, the first oil was produced on the platform.
The website Azpolitika.info discusses the question why entrepreneurs refuse bank loans. The author writes about high credit interest.
In addition, there remains the problem of monopoly, lack of competition, incentive measures, tax arbitrariness, the complete transfer of the banking sector to the hands of oligarch officials, and ifficult conditions for business loans.
The website Modern.az writes about life-sentenced prisoners, the number of which today is more than 300 people. Most of all life sentences were passed in 2000, 2002 and 2003, and least of all - in 2015-2017. In 2018, 7 people received life sentences.
