Minister Did Not Clarify Tank Shell That Damaged Residential House
Baku / 19.06.19 / Turan: Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov at a press conference on June 18 surprised the public with his explanations of how a training shell fell on a residential building in Ganja a week ago.
According to the Minister, the shell was released on the training ground, after which it hit a cliff and ricocheted another 18 km. The Minister did not name which type of weapon was fired, however, experts classified the shell as a tank training one.
Such shells are used for direct fire shooting and for easily penetrated training targets, for example, made from plywood.
The range of the shell of the T-72 tank is about 9 km. On a direct tip, the target could be within 1-3 km. When rebounding, the shell loses at least 25% of the kinetic energy, which means that after hitting the rock, it could fly no more than 6 km.
However, the shell fell on the house vertically, breaking through the roof and ceiling (see photo). This could occur during the flight of the shell at an elevation angle of 60 degrees from the departure point. But with such a hinged trajectory the shell would have lost even more energy and would have flown even less.
All this gives reason to doubt the explanation of the Minister and only raises questions about what happened in Ganja after all. -0-
